eCommerce Replatform — From Monolith to Microservices
A European online retailer with €40M annual revenue was running their storefront and order management on an aging PHP monolith that couldn't handle traffic spikes during peak sales events. Downtime during Black Friday had cost
them six figures the previous year.
We augmented their team with 5 frontend engineers (React / TypeScript), 2 backend engineers (Node.js + PostgreSQL), and a DevOps specialist (Kubernetes / AWS). Our team took ownership of the new headless storefront and the
order processing microservice while the client's team maintained the existing platform and managed the migration timeline.
After 18 months, the new architecture was fully live. The headless storefront delivered a 2.1x improvement in Core Web Vitals scores, and the microservice backend handled the following Black Friday peak with zero downtime at 4x
the previous traffic volume
